Senior Software Engineer

The role

As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll own projects end to end: from shaping the problem with product and operations, through design and implementation across backend, web, iOS, and Android, to release and the results that follow.

We organize engineering around projects, not codebases. There are no "backend engineers" or "iOS engineers" here. Each project has an engineer who owns its delivery and goes wherever the work goes. Every codebase still has an owner responsible for its long-term health, standards, and code review, and you'll likely own one or more yourself. But no one is dedicated to a single codebase full time.

You'll report to our CTO and be an early member of a small, senior team, with real influence over core architecture decisions and how we work as we scale.

What you'll do

• Own project delivery end to end. Take a project from a business goal to a shipped, measured result. You're accountable for scope, technical plan, timeline, quality, and launch.
• Work across the full stack. Build backend services and APIs, web experiences, and native iOS/Android features, depending on what the project needs, not what your title says.
• Shape the work with stakeholders. Partner with product, design, growth, and operations to turn goals into clear plans, flag tradeoffs early, and keep everyone informed as the project moves.
• Steward a codebase. Own the long-term health of one or more of our codebases: set standards, review changes from engineers working across it, and keep it maintainable as many hands touch it.
• Make sound technical decisions. Contribute to architecture discussions, write design docs for meaningful changes, and reason clearly about product, performance, and security tradeoffs.
• Raise the bar. Champion modern engineering practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and thoughtful use of AI-assisted development tools. Mentor others and help define our engineering culture as we grow.

You should apply if you

• Have hands-on experience building and shipping production software, with a track record of projects you led from idea to launch.
• Are strong in at least two of backend, web, and native mobile, and are eager to work across all three.
• Take pride in designing, building, and maintaining APIs, services, and systems at scale.
• Care about polished, high-quality user experiences, and sweat the details that make an app feel great.
• Thrive on ownership: you see problems through to the end and hold yourself to a high standard, without waiting to be told what's next.
• Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders, in writing and in person.
• Adapt quickly to changing requirements and stay effective in ambiguous situations.
• Uphold best practices in engineering, security, and design.
• Have a passion for watches and fine craftsmanship (a plus, not a requirement).
