Tax Manager
Location: Miami, FL · Phoenix, AZ · Toronto, Canada (in-person four days per week — Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri)
We're seeking an exceptional Tax Manager to join our Tax team. The ideal candidate brings deep technical tax, compliance and reporting expertise and a forward-looking mindset around AI-driven practice improvement. This role offers broad exposure to federal, state, and indirect tax.
Tax Reporting & Compliance
- Lead end-to-end preparation and review of quarterly and annual income tax provisions, including current and deferred tax calculations, valuation allowance analysis, and footnote disclosures.
- Oversee preparation and review of federal and state income tax returns, estimates, and extensions for consolidated, combined, and standalone entities.
- Manage responses to federal and state audit inquiries and tax notices.
- Lead tax planning initiatives, research, and analysis to develop efficient, compliant tax strategies.
- Prepare or review tax-related journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
- Monitor tax law changes and provide guidance to ensure compliance.
- Maintain and enhance internal tax controls and process improvements.
- Lead the R&D tax credit process, partnering with internal teams and external advisors.
- Draft technical memos and support materials to substantiate tax positions.
AI-Driven Tax Practice
- Reach for AI first — use Claude, Claude Code, and similar tools to accelerate research, draft technical memos, analyze notices, run calculations, and design repeatable workflows.
- Default to AI, don't defer to it. Automate what's mechanical, build structured workflows for what's in between, and protect your focus for the analysis that actually requires you.
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA certification required.
- Hands-on corporate tax experience across both provision and compliance.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state tax laws and US GAAP.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
- High level of ethics, integrity, and professional judgment.
Bonus Points
- Experience in Big 4 public accounting or a publicly traded company.
- Master's degree in Taxation, JD, or LLM with a focus in Tax.
- Proficiency in NetSuite or similar ERP systems.
